Upcoming Mission Opportunities

Backpacks for Appalachia
Our GBC President, Dr. John Waters, is challenging us all to become involved with “Backpacks for Appalachia.” Last year we sent out the word in the fall about the needs in Appalachia for school supplies, Bibles, clothing, toys, and candy for children for Christmas and you responded with nearly 5,000 filled backpacks. This year we are challenged to do even more to make a difference in the lives of families in Appalachia.

Under the Bridge Ministry
This ministry began in Augusta under the Calhoun Expressway Bridge at 15th Street. Now operating every Saturday, volunteers set up 250 chairs, food serving tables, a music system, and in the atmosphere of praise and worship the gospel is preached. Through the love of God, a full hot meal, clothing, hygiene products and bags of food are dispersed. Each month 1000+ hot meals are served, 600 hygiene bags are given out, and nearly 1000 items of clothing are given out. Please call the church if you are interested in volunteering.

Burn Center Ministry
This ministry is responsible for providing food to the Burn Unit of Doctor’s Hospital located in Augusta, Ga. This ministry assists in providing a good hot meal for the families and loved ones of patients receiving treatment in the Burn Unit. Since the Burn Unit is regional in scope, many patients here are from across the Southeastern United States. We invite you to assist us in providing for this ministry to meet those in need.

They also provide medical clinics, food distribution, clothing and shoe distribution, witnessing, and direct access for evangelism in the local education system. They also run the Samaritan Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center and Grace House, a halfway house for those that successfully complete the six month program.

Alaska Mission Trip
Most people think of Alaska only as a tourist destination. And God certainly worked overtime making it one of the most spectacularly beautiful places on the earth. But it is also a spiritually dark mission field! Our strategy is to use volunteers and mission partnerships with lower 48 churches strategically and intentionally to help us reach our state for Christ. We focus on high density housing areas and do summer mission campaigns with the goal of reaching people for Christ and starting small growth groups in the communities where we work.
