Christmas is a season of messages. What once was a litany of cards and letters has turned into a blur of posts, blogs, and tweets. But how often we fail to stop and personally connect to those on the receiving end of our Christmas greetings. When God sent out a series of messages to the participants in the original Christmas story, they were all personally delivered: the prophets came to the people of Judea; angels came to Mary, Joseph, and eventually some startled shepherds; and finally, salvation was delivered to the world in the person of Jesus Christ, born in a manger. Jesus came to the earth so that we could see God, and having seen God we could then go forth and be His love to a lost and dying world. As Christians, it is simply not enough to just celebrate Christmas, it is time to start giving Christmas away by sharing the love of Jesus with those around us.
“So shall My word be that goes out from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
